Context

Our Client is a chemical company that operates in more than 90 facilities in the US, the UK, Spain, Germany, France and Italy and with more than 35 years of history with employs more than 2,500 people worldwide.

Role

Ensure that site operates to, and complies with, Italian and corporate statutory regulations and policies.

Responsible for managing all departments related to production, planning, engineering, H&S, lab. 
To set team targets and to ensure Managers teams achieve set KPI’s
Continuously review the skills mix, talent plans and recruitment needs for all the departments to ensure flexibility and succession planning for robustness.
Conducts performance management of direct reports.
Developing capital equipment justification for machine, equipment and process technology to improve quality, right first time KPI's, cost and cycle times.
Participate in Italy and Europe management meetings on weekly, monthly and ad-hoc basis.
Lead in improving operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes.
Lead an operational excellence culture, targeting continuous improvement and optimization.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the italian strategy.
Establish and maintain a network of key supplier relationships.
Ensuring the plant delivers KPI’s related to cost, yield, waste, H&S.
To reduce quality defects and to ensure the site maintains zero LTA (loss time accidents).
Oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing.
To ensure the team has the capability and knowledge to undertake their duties.
Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, customers and visitors.
To manage unit operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives and policies.
Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.


Education and professional background
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 5+ years’ P&L responsibility.
  • 5+ years’ people management – demonstrable experience of hiring, developing and motivating high performing teams of professional staff.
  • Working for a growth company.
  • Track record of strong project execution.

Personal Skills
 
  • Experience working with senior executives.
  • Strong leadership and decision maker attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.
  • Diplomatic approach with negotiation skills.
  • Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought-partner (builds relationships, delivers results).
  • Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to balance business partnering skills with employee advocacy.
